Street Memo -"P-Site Perspectives"

P-Site Perspectives

Words by Stephen Serrano

We love skateboarding, and we’re all different. Being able to view skateboarding from different perspectives shines new light on this shit that we love. It’s important that we’re able to have a look at what people find inspiring , find respectable and find fun.

So I went to Parisite skatepark, proceeded to sweat through my clothes, then asked skaters what their first skate video was and what right now is their favorite.

Shawn, 22

First skate video you ever saw?

SLS 2012, I really wanted to get into skateboarding, I’ve always admired it. Watching SLS is what really got me hyped.

Nowadays, what do you watch to get hyped to skate?

If I have time, I’ll watch the whole Tampa Pro’s, my favorite to watch is 2015. I really like Cody McEntire, he killed it that year and his style was different, and the way he did things.

Any shout outs?

Shout out to Parisite, shout out to Johnny and the boys, shout out to all the oldies, they really inspire me to get out here.

Maria Almanza, 30

First skate video you ever saw?

I don’t remember my first skate video, but what recently got me back into skating is watching some GirlShred clips, this Instagram page. I skated as a kid, gave it up, but that’s what made me pick it up again is those GirlShred clips.

Nowadays, what do you watch that gets you stoked to go skate?

Normally I’ll watch some “how to’s” for my level, some how to videos. Then I’ll go on Instagram and watch some local skaters here, and watch their clips, like you.

Any shout outs?

Shout out to the Parisite family, they're my first skate family.

Rocky Indovina, 25

First skate video you ever saw?

I believe it was Lakai’s Fully Flared, that’s the one I remember the most.

Nowadays, what do you watch to get hyped to skate?

Honestly I’ll probably just play Skate 3, I’ll play it to get a run of how I wanna skate, and just envision that. Just go from there, I’ll scroll through Instagram too.

Anybody on Instagram that pops out in your mind?

I think his name is @victorbrooks and there’s a guy I think his name is @youreburnt his style is so clean to me.

Any shout out’s?

Shout out to the blood, sweat and tears. 15 years of skateboarding, and shout out to the community.

Any shout out’s?

Serrano, Wentwood Family and all my Kenner Family.

In conclusion, I caught a glimpse of Skateboarding, the activity and culture that I love, from some refreshing perspectives. It’s important sometimes to view things from a different angle. To be able to see how others perceive our world.
